About First Car Academy

Everyone wants to drive well. The sooner you get to grips with driving, the sooner you’ll pass your test. And once you have your licence, the more effort you put into developing your skills the better your chances of avoiding an accident in those difficult first months of independent driving. Whether you’re about to start learning, cramming hard for your theory or practical test, or you have your licence but want to keep improving, the FirstCar Academy can help.

Don’t worry, it’s not like being at school or college. The FirstCar Academy is a free e-learning resource. You sign up using the link above, where you will find 14 videos split across three modules, which you can watch whenever and wherever you like. At the end of each module you’ll need to answer a question to unlock the next module’s videos. You earn a certificate when you complete the third and final module, with a pass, merit or distinction.

Completing the course won’t just make you a better informed driver. All graduates will be entered into a prize draw to win a car for a year and our sponsors, Adrian Flux Insurance Services, are offering £1000 in cash too! How it works?

How it works

The First Car Academy course consists of nine short videos on different cycling-related topics. After each of the first eight films, there’s a short task to make sure you’ve watched and understood everything. You need to complete this task to move onto the next video; if you get the answer wrong three times, you’ll need to watch the film again.

After completing all the videos you’ll receive your score and a grade. It will be either a Pass, Merit or Distinction, depending on how many attempts you took to get through all the tasks. You’ll also be able to download a personalised certificate with your grade.

If you opt in for further communications from First Car Academy, we’ll be in touch from time to time with news and features that we think will be of interest; you can unsubscribe from these at any time.

IMPORTANT

Your progress is not saved as you go through the videos, so you should allow 20-25 minutes to complete them all in one sitting. Once you’ve finished the course your score will be recorded and you can log back in at any time to download your certificate.

FirstCar Academy Terms & Conditions for Annual Prize Draw
  1. This prize draw is run by Firstcar Limited.
  2. This prize draw is open to all UK residents, except employees of Firstcar Limited and their affiliated companies, their families and agencies.
  3. All those completing the full set FirstCar Academy of modules will automatically be entered in to the prize draw.
  4. The prize draw period covered is all those graduating 1 September 2017 – 31 October 2018.
  5. The winner will be randomly selected by the promoter shortly after 31 October 2018.
  6. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned.
  7. By entering, all entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and any associated entry requirements. Any breach of these terms and conditions by an entrant will void their entry. Misrepresentative or fraudulent entries will invalidate an entry.
  8. Only one entry per person.
  9. The prize is non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable.
  10. Prizes:
    • 1st prize is a Ford Fiesta Style, 1.1L Ti-VCT 70PS (Petrol) with Start/Stop 5 Speed for 12 months.
    • 2nd prize is £1,000 cash
    • 12 monthly cash prizes of £100 will be offered to all those graduating from that corresponding month. Every month from September 2017 – October 2018, £100 cash will be awarded.
  11. The promoter reserves the right to the right to offer an alternative car of the similar value if the given model is no longer available, but will endeavour to ensure the car promoted is the one offered for 12 months.
  12. If the selected winner of the car for a year does not fulfil the relevant criteria to allow the car to be leased to them, a cash alternative equivalent to the value of the leasing of the car for a year will be offered.
  13. The prize does not include travel to collect the prize and the winner must make his or her own arrangements.
  14. By entering, the winner agrees to their names and general locations being used for publicity purposes.
  15. The winners may be required to submit valid identification before receiving their prize.
  16. By entering the prize draw, participants agree to i. the terms and conditions of the prize draw; ii. being contacted by Firstcar Ltd and carefully selected third parties for marketing purposes.
